Step 6: Activities

Review your materials to see if there are any materials that are low-quality, (near) duplicates, or of a culturally or personally sensitive nature.

Consult with your archive regarding the specific collection size limits or costs associated with archiving your materials; use this information as guidelines to follow to ensure that you are only putting the most important items into your collection.

Consider the contents of your collection. Are there any materials that are culturally sensitive, personally private, or that you have not been given permission to deposit? Would depositing them violate any codes of ethics, community protocols or legal rights? Have you been granted consent to deposit the materials?

  1. If there are sensitive materials, determine if there are any conditions under which they may circulate.
