A collection description is a description of a collection that appears in a metadata field or some other display on the repository's landing page for that collection. 

A collection guide is a stand-alone document that describes a collection, as well as its context and history. A collection guide will almost always contain more detail that a collection description.

A finding aid is a collection guide that contains a comprehensive list of the collection’s contents.
