Step 9: Activities
Prepare a collection description to explain the collection in broad terms to users so that they can determine if the collection will be useful to them:
- Provide enough information to allow someone to cite the collection.
- Write the collection description that either includes or directs users to contextual information about the production of the collection, its content, arrangement, and anything else a user would need to know to make use of (or at least access) the data.
Make an accompanying comprehensive list of the collection’s contents, which will serve as a finding aid.
Determine if you need to create a detailed, article-length collection guide.
Determine if you need to translate the guide and finding aid into a language other than English. If so, do it.
